Our Repairs Commercial Refrigerator Repair

I. Diagnosis and Repair

Every business owner understands the importance of a well-functioning commercial refrigerator. When a vital piece of equipment like a Beverage-Air Refrigerator unit malfunctions, it can cause a domino effect of problems.

Spoiled food, unhappy customers, and a potential health hazard are just a few consequences of a faulty commercial refrigerator. This was the exact scenario for one of our recent clients, a local restaurant. Their Beverage-Air commercial refrigerator, which housed their entire stock, began malfunctioning. The temperature wasn't maintaining the proper level, threatening the quality and safety of their beverages. The client knew he needed to act quickly to prevent food spoilage, so he called HVAC & Appliance Service FIRST for a diagnostic.

When our technicians arrived the refrigerator already was not cooling at all. During the thorough diagnostic, the technicians discovered that the compressor was trying to start but it couldn't do it.
First of all, new start components had to be installed to test the compressor (faulty mechanical components can cause the motor to lock and overheat).

After all the compressor start components were replaced, the unit was thoroughly tested. The compressor was still trying to start but due to a mechanical defect it couldn't and was locked. Therefore, it was decided to replace the entire compressor with a new one.

II. Replace Compressor in a Commercial Refrigerator: Step by Step

A. The technician prepared an estimate with the total price of the repair and once the customer approved, we began the work (service was provided by qualified EPA certified specialists)

LABOR INCLUDED:

  • Old compressor unmount and recycling according to the EPA standards:
  • New compressor installation

  • Access valve installation

  • Replacing Freon filter-drier

  • Nitrogen test performed to exclude the possibility of refrigerant leaks

  • Vacuuming sealed system to 500-micron vacuum deep

  • Charging sealed system with new refrigerant

  • System test
B. After the repair unit was tested the necessary indicators were checked and established:

  • Compressor draining 2,9-3A:

  • Compressor max temperature 105F;

  • Low side pressure 35-38 Psig.;

The unit lowered the temperature inside the compartment very quick and turned off the compressor when it reached 38F.

There are no other issues were discovered.

Within a short timeframe, the Beverage-Air unit was back in perfect working order. Their precious stock of craft beers was safe once again, and the restaurant could resume normal operations without any further disruption.

III. Common Issues With Commercial Refrigerators And Their Solutions

Commercial refrigerators often face several common issues that can significantly impact their performance and efficiency.

One of the most frequent problems is insufficient cooling, which can be caused by dirty condenser coils or a refrigerant leak. The solution includes regularly cleaning the coils and checking the system for leaks.

Another common issue is ice buildup on the evaporator, which can be related to a faulty fan or a malfunctioning thermostat. In such cases, it is necessary to inspect and, if needed, replace the faulty components.

Additionally, similar problems with compressors are also common, as they can fail due to overheating or wear and tear. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of parts can help prevent most of these issues and extend the lifespan of a commercial refrigerator.
